Our approach focuses on fostering independence, self-directed learning, and the holistic development of each child. This means creating a home-like environment where children can feel free to be themselves. We encourage and make time for outdoor play. It is integral, not only to healthy development but to forming a sense of belonging in our world and our responsibility to look after it. Our goal is to create a nurturing environment that encourages children to explore, discover, and
develop their full potential intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically. We believe in respecting each child’s unique abilities and interests, allowing them to learn at their own pace and follow their innate curiosity.

Meet Nicole
Hi! I’m Nicole, owner and head facilitator of Mossflower Montessori. It is my mission to offer a happy, nature-filled education free from stress and anxiety.
I was homeschooled with my two brothers. We had such loving guidance and attention to our individual needs. We were given time to explore our world through questioning, exploration, and playfulness. We spent much of our childhood outdoors, camping, canoeing, hiking, and playing.
This freedom to be myself from a young age and to learn in my own way, gave me the building blocks to support young children in their pursuit to understand their world, respect others, and love themselves.
We are all so wonderfully different and our approach to education should reflect this. My mission is to create an environment where children can be silly, playful, loved, and most importantly, be themselves.

Mission
To cultivate a nurturing environment where play, nature, love, and joyful learning converge, fostering happy, well-rounded children who embrace the wonders of the world around them. We believe in the power of every child to become a confident, creative, and critically thinking individual. We embrace the notion that learning happens through play and is not confined to the classroom but extends to the natural world around us.
Montessori Curriculum
The Montessori curriculum encompasses a rich array of subjects, from practical life and sensorial activities to mathematics, language, cultural studies, and the artistic expression, all designed to support holistic development. Our approach emphasizes hands-on learning and self-directed exploration. Through outdoor activities, gardening, and the study of plants and animals children develop a profound sense of curiosity, environmental stewardship, and a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom.
Class Environment
We cater for children between 2.5 and 6 years old (including Grade R), depending on each child's readiness. We have one mixed age class where children of all ages can learn from one another. We prioritize the power of meaningful human connection, so we keep our class size small. We ensure that every child receives the attention, care, and quality education they deserve, cultivating a sense of belonging within our community.
